Abstract

The pandemic has had a very serious influence on the businesses, organizations, and on the everyday life of the population, though the impact may vary from region to region. In general, the pandemic brought unfavourable situations, though there are businesses that could take benefit from this “new normal” situation. The extent of the impact surely depends on the specific economic and social conditions of the region that determine the adaptability to the new tendencies. Regardless of the sector, or the size of the businesses, there is one thing in common: all the businesses had to be creative, innovative, and had to have a strategy for the short and middle term. In this chapter, the authors would like to provide a national-level overview of the economic and social impacts of the pandemic, and the measures are taken to boost the economy. Secondly, the authors intend to provide a more targeted picture about the Hungarian family businesses, and how they managed to survive and offset the unexpected impacts of the pandemic, based on primary research.
